The Work: Vocus (now a part of Cision PR) frequently has top marketing experts conduct webinars that are designed to educate audience on the latest trends in digital marketing, brand advocacy and PR. I was hired by Vocus to create a custom webinar called Market Like a Rock Star, based on my book Think Like a Rock Star: How to Create Social Media and Marketing Strategies That Turn Customers Into Fans.
My Role: I not only created and conducted the webinar for Vocus, but I also worked closely with its digital team to help promote the webinar on social media channels to drive registrations and increase interest in the webinar leading up to its reveal. I worked closely with Vocus’ digital team to get updates on how registrations were proceeding and to devise and execute strategies for increasing interest. One of the key metrics that Vocus would track related to this webinar was volume of tweets on Twitter during the webinar. I suggested to Vocus that I record the webinar beforehand, which would allow me to engage directly with webinar attendees on Twitter during the webinar.
The Results: The Market Like a Rock Star webinar had over 2,000 registrants, and over 500 people attend it live. Additionally, this webinar set an all-time record for the most tweets left during any Vocus webinar. The volume of tweets on Twitter was greatly impacted by my being able to engage directly with the audience during the webinar, which also greatly increased understanding and satisfaction with the webinar.
